Liverpool Likely XI v Maribor: Klopp finally gives £35m a chance

We’re predicting Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will finally be given the chance from the outset against Maribor tomorrow night.

The Englishman has only been given one start so far by Jurgen Klopp, and that was in the League Cup defeat to Leicester City.

Why Trent Alexander-Arnold wears pink boots

He’s come off the bench on nine occasions, scoring a fortnight ago against Maribor, so it’s time he got another opportunity…

We think he’ll play on the left in the absence of Coutinho and Sadio Mane through injury. Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino will likely make up the front three, as Daniel Sturridge is rarely used twice in a week.

This means Jordan Henderson, Gini Wijnaldum and Emre Can can make up the midfield trio, with James Milner on the bench. We’d like to see Marko Grujic named as substitute too with the hope of getting him a runout if the game is won.

In defence, we think Trent Alexander-Arnold will come in to the backline, as will Loris Karius, who starts in the Champions League ahead of Simon Mignolet.

With Dejan Lovren getting injured before our victory over Huddersfield, Ragnar Klavan will partner Joel Matip with the ever-present Alberto Moreno at left-back!

This XI should be capable of giving the Slovenians another thumping.
