Liverpool submit unidentified offer for German international

If we lose Emre Can on a free transfer, it would be fantastic to replace him with Leon Goretzka – who like our German – is in the process of running his contract down.

Both are members of Germany’s squad and will be at the World Cup next summer barring anything strange happening.

Similarly, neither seem to have any intention of renewing terms on their current deals: Can with us and Goretzka with Schalke.

According to Mundo Deportivo, translated by Sport Witness, we are facing a battle with Juventus and Barcelona for Goretzka’s signature – with all three clubs able to freely approach him regarding a Bosman deal in less than two months’ time.

The initial report from Spain ambiguously states there’s ‘an offer’ from Liverpool on the table – but whether that’s to Schalke or to the player – we don’t know.

Mundo Deportivo are very much of the belief that Goretzka wants Barca, but that is naturally the link the Catalan outlet would take.

We just hope that we’re focussing as much on renewing Can’s terms as we are finding an adequate replacement.
