LFC told it’ll cost €40m to sign fullback recently rejected for Alberto Moreno

According to multiple reports, such as this one in the Belfast Telegraph, Liverpool have been told by Benfica Alex Grimaldo will cost €40m.

The 22-year-old starts at left-back for the Portuguese and is highly rated on the continent.

However, he’s only a member of Spain’s U21s, while our own left-back Alberto Moreno has just been called up to Julen Lopetegui’s senior squad!

We’re not sure whether Liverpool are really considering shelling out £35m on a left-back when £10m Andrew Robertson currently cannot even get into the squad…

If we are going to shell out big money on a defender, it’ll be a centre-back – with fullback not really an area of concern on either side with the development of Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold on the right.

Jurgen Klopp has barely used the January transfer market since arriving, only bringing in Steven Caulker on loan so far – so we don’t expect him to be especially active this winter either.
