Three Bosman players in key positions LFC would be mad not to approach

  • Emre Can is leaving Liverpool on a Bosman, but he’s not the only top player with an expiring contract

Liverpool could save an insane amount of money by using the Bosman transfer market wisely in a few months’ time…

Unfortunately, we can confirm that Emre Can is not going to renew his current deal and will therefore be departing on a free transfer. The German will give his all this campaign, but ultimately move to pastures new – most likely Juventus – in time for 2018.

On January 1st next year, non-domestic clubs are allowed to freely approach players and offer deals to those with less than six months on their contracts.

Here are three of those who have currently not put pen to paper…

We’d love Liverpool to be in the market for at least one.

Leon Goretzka

We’ve heard from a source that Goretzka is very much a genuine target. Klopp will know the talented 22-year-old well from the Bundesliga, having already acquired his former Schalke team-mate Joel Matip on a Bosman before.

Goretzka, like Can, is a German international midfielder and would ease the pain of losing Emre.

He’s technically gifted and provides a goalscoring box-to-box presence, having notched four times in his last three games for club and country.

Leon Goretzka, Schalke’s midfielder would cost £40m+ if he has years on his contract.

Jose Gimenez

Atletico Madrid’s 22-year-old central defender has been taught how to defend by Diego Simeone, and is highly rated by Pep Guardiola… Gimenez already has multiple caps for Uruguay under his belt and if Liverpool are so desperate for Virgil van Dijk, we can at least sign him a potential partner in the meantime.

Gimenez is feisty, and while we’d suggest he may take some time to adapt to English football, on a free transfer it’s a no brainer.

Jose Gimenez – major Champions League and international experience aged 22.

Kepa

The 23-year-old Spanish shot-stopper is enjoying a brilliant season for Athletic Bilbao. According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal and Real Madrid are both eyeing his services, which given our current goalkeeping situation, is an indication that we should be too.

Neither Simon Mignolet nor Loris Karius are good enough. It’s time we signed an elite keeper and this guy is showing the potential to become just that.

Kepa is already a member of the Spain squad and wanted by Real Madrid to replace Keylor Navas.
