It’s not often we get excited about former Liverpool players joining other clubs (why would we?), but there’s something brilliant about the prospect of Fernando Torres under Rafa Benitez again…
According to the Chronicle, Benitez is considering a January loan swoop for the striker who while at Anfield under his guidance, was considered the most deadly no.9 on the planet.
The 33-year-old is currently not getting into Diego Simeone’s side and his prospects after the New Year will diminish further with Diego Costa eligible to play.
As a result, he wants a short-term move during the second half of this season to get more minutes.
Southampton are also keen, but surely if Newcastle made a bid, Torres would jump at the chance to play under Rafa again.
Between 2007 and 2010, Torres scored 72 goals and alongside Steven Gerrard, came within inches of firing us to title glory in 2008/09.
