Coutinho: Why I Love playing with Mo Salah

Coutinho has lavished praise on Mo Salah, the Egyptian who’s taken the Premier League by storm since arriving from Roma in the summer.

Jurgen Klopp splashed out a club record £36m fee on the 25-year-old, but he’s already trebled that price-tag in terms of his market value.

Salah has scored 14 goals in 19 appearance and is the Premier League’s top scorer on nine goals.

Many of his efforts have been thanks to Phil’s unbelievable vision behind him. Notably, Salah’s header v Leicester was thanks to a delicious Coutinho cross, and his goal v Southampton was from a sumptuous through-ball by the no.10.

“It’s his movement!” Coutinho told the official website, when asked why they link up so well.

“He’s a very quick player and he’s always trying to move so that he can get into empty space and that makes it easier for whoever has the ball, I always say that.

“I hope to be able to make the best of my chance to play with him and to be able to help the team.

“He’s a great player. Everyone – us and the fans – have been really impressed with the way he’s settled in here, the way he’s adapted to the team in a new country.

“Everything is fully deserved, he’s a great bloke, he always trains hard and he’s there when we need him – that is good for Liverpool.”

Despite wanting to leave in the summer, Coutinho has been excellent for Liverpool this term when fit.

Both Coutinho and Salah are certainties to start against Chelsea at Anfield tomorrow, although all eyes will be on our less heralded defensive players following Tuesday night’s capitulation in Sevilla.

If the likes of Alberto Moreno and Dejan Lovren can keep Eden Hazard and Alvaro Morata quiet (easier said than done), our forwards have the ability to score goals in abundance.
