LFC scouting Ivory Coast DMC; worth over £35.2m, ahead of January window

Liverpool and Manchester City have been scouting Jean Michael Seri heavily this season, reports the Daily Mail.

The 26-year-old currently plies his trade for Nice and was targeted by Barcelona in the summer, with the Catalans bidding £35.2m for his services unsuccessfully.

The French preferred to keep the Ivorian international, but he’s unlikely to be with the Ligue 1 side long-term with some of the clubs circling.

Jean Michael Seri, Nice’s best player by some distance.

Seri plays deep in midfield and likes to break the line with clever, zipped forward passes.

He’s very slight, but technically able, reminding us stylistically of Marco Verratti.

At Liverpool, he’d be a good option for Jordan Henderson’s current position. He’s a more adventurous passer but lacks our captain’s tenacity.

Many fans are so disappointed with the skipper at the moment though that they’d delight in a possible replacement…

We’re still very much behind Henderson, but agree that we need another holding midfielder in upcoming windows.
