Even Andres Iniesta has started tapping up Coutinho…

It’s usually Barcelona’s Brazilians, or Brazilians who have once played for Barca, who speak to the press about the Coutinho transfer.

But now, legendary midfielder Andres Iniesta has got involved too!

The Spaniard, who many believe will eventually make way for Coutinho in Barca’s midfield, has claimed his signing, along with linked centre-back Yerry Mina, would boost the team.

“I think they would be two important reinforcements to the squad,” he told Goal reporters. “If the club wants to strengthen those positions, it should be with players that can be prepared to withstand the pressure of a club like this, and they would be two big signings.

“But nothing has happened, so it’s difficult.”

Barcelona’s interest in Coutinho is so public it’s nauseating. The manner in which they discuss our 25-year-old is like he’s merely enjoying a Premier League loan spell before his eventual return to Catalonia – like the prodigal son.

But he’s not their player, never has been and is contracted to Liverpool until 2022.

So any deal will be on Liverpool’s terms and they should be 100% clear on one thing: he won’t be leaving in January.

Next summer, we’d rather the deal got done just to get it out of the way, in many respects, so Jurgen Klopp can move on with a squad who want to play for us.

But until then, give it a rest, would you Barca?
