Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain won the love of Liverpool fans both on and off the pitch at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday.
The midfielder enjoyed his best performance since arriving for the club as the classy Reds cruised to a 4-0 thrashing of Bournemouth.
Liverpool’s deadline-day acquisition produced a Man of the Match outing, before defending Philippe Coutinho from a tricky question regarding his future at the club in their post-match interview.
Realising his teammate was working hard to answer in the most respectful and sensible manner possible, Oxlade-Chamberlain stepped in to praise the Brazilian’s professionalism and label such questions as ‘unfair’.
Coutinho’s ambition to play for Barcelona is common knowledge following his transfer request in the summer, making it somewhat inconsiderate to continuously put the No.10 under pressure.
It was a day to celebrate the little magician’s genius solo effort to open the scoring, and Liverpool’s exhibition of devastating counterattacking football.
After a tentative start to life on Merseyside, Oxlade-Chamberlain has seemingly settled down and is beginning to exercise the qualities that earned him his move to Anfield.
