Barca’s latest £132m Coutinho offer has a significant catch

Barcelona are ready to offer as much as £132m for Coutinho, having had a final £119m bid rejected in the summer, claim Spanish outlet SPORT, translated by the Daily Mail.

Liverpool’s Brazilian superstar remains their no.1 transfer target and the player himself is just as keen on joining, having submitted an infamous transfer request the day before this season started.

However, Liverpool haven’t publicly or privately changed our stance, having refused to sell our no.10 in August.

Barca’s £132m will be heavily reliant on instalments and add-ons, which is not going to appeal to Liverpool’s owners.

We’ll need a huge amount of money to reinvest in a player of Coutinho’s ilk, not that there actually are any available.

With Liverpool still in the Champions League and placed 4th in the Premier League, offloading Coutinho for any amount of money this January would be nonsensical.

The Catalan outlets will keep peddling the rumour as it sells copies, but despite Barcelona’s desperation to sign our midfielder, the power is still in Liverpool’s hands.
