He’s not got much of a sniff under Jurgen Klopp this term though and the German feels it right to send him down a tier, presumably for first-team football.

The Daily Mail claim Coleman is ‘closing in’ on on the teenager, who is Liverpool’s youngest ever goalscorer.

Woodburn possesses unbelievable talent, quick feet and a creative flair that could see him reach the highest echelons of the game.

But this is now a crucial time in his development. Our primary hope for his spell in the North East is that he gets minutes. Coleman knows him and trusts him, which gives us hope.

If he can help Sunderland win a relegation battle and return in the summer full of confidence, that’d be superb.
