Emre Can’s Juventus salary has already been decided… and it’s insane

Juventus have offered Emre Can the chance to become their third-highest earner this summer.

Can is currently in the final year of his Liverpool contract, with talks over an extension haven broken down in recent months.

The German is expected to join the Serie A side on a free transfer at the end of the season, unless Liverpool can convince him to have a change of heart.

Though a January departure for Can has been ruled out, the midfielder has already reportedly agreed a deal in principle with Juventus.

If a deal is completed, Can will earn €5million-a-year to become the third-highest paid player in Turin behind only Gonzalo Higuaín and Paulo Dybala, according to Italian outlet Calciomercato.

Though Can is deemed by many as no significant loss, it would be a frustrating setback to see him depart having teased his undoubted potential over the past year or two.

His commanding presence and box-to-box expertise haven’t been evident regularly enough, with a lack of consistency proving to be a real hindrance to the 23-year-old.

The physical and technical attributes he possesses should make him Liverpool’s most accomplished midfielder, yet he has never been able to quite convince the majority of fans.

A fear of him progressing further elsewhere serves as the basis of Reds wanting the club to keep hold of him, not to mention the exciting prospect of him playing alongside Naby Keita next season.

Much like with Philippe Coutinho, Liverpool must have an adequate replacement lined up if they wish to maintain their upward trajectory.
