LFC could ‘Do a Man United’ with £45m bid – Echo

Liverpool fans, how would you feel if the club shelled out £45m for Suso, having let him go for next to nothing in 2014…?

The Echo is speculating whether or not the Spanish playmaker could be a target this January, due to the fact he has an affordable £45m release-clause at AC Milan.

Suso plays either on the right for the Italians or as a no.10 and has been in decent form, scoring seven goals so far this campaign, registering three assists to boot.

That’s similar stats to Sadio Mane this term, for comparison.

At 24, Suso is a perfect age and the fact he has experience at Liverpool beforehand is probably beneficial in terms of his settling in to the Premier League.

There will be of course fans perplexed at how a club can release a youngster and then spend a gargantuan sum on them just a few years later, just like Manchester United did with Paul Pogba.

The Frenchman has been a quality buy, but is a world-class player, whereas there’s no guarantee Suso would cut the mustard second time around.

Our feeling is this one won’t happen because Suso prefers the right-hand side of the field, cutting in on his left, while Coutinho does the opposite. Ideally, we need a right-footer who can create in the holes on the left-hand side.
