Firmino talks about ‘charisma’ and threatens bold new goal celebration

Roberto Firmino has been booked for overzealous celebration more times (10) than any other player in Europe since 2010!

That pretty much sums up our whacky Brazilian, who this season has gone on to a different level, bagging 17 goals so far.

Crazy Firmino stat makes Liverpool fans love him even more

He has a number of different celebrations, including the ones that gets him a yellow when he removes his shirt, but according to Bobby – he used to backflip!

“Well, when I was a kid, I used to do a goal celebration that was a back-flip,” he told the official website.

“I did it a lot when I was younger. It’s something I want to do [again], but maybe it’s best not to try! I did it up to four years ago, but not anymore!”

As well as Firmino’s goals, his presence as our focal point epitomises Jurgen Klopp’s footballing philosophy – and is the reason our German manager has ditched traditional centre-forwards like Christian Benteke and Daniel Sturridge (effectively, anyway) for the 26-year-old since he arrived.

“I’m always very happy to score and to give assists, give passes – that’s also hugely important,” Firmino continued.

“I work hard and I want to help my teammates. It’s not always the goal itself, though the goal is the fruit of the work we’ve done which is why of course when I score, it’s always good.”

“It’s due to me as a person, I think, my charisma,” Firmino answered when questioned why fans appreciate him so much.

“I always treat people well. I always stop, it’s never a problem when people want to speak with me, that’s OK with me – I’m never rude to anyone.

“And then on the field I give absolutely everything, I play with all of my heart and that’s why I think it is.”

There are loud suggestions that Liverpool are set to offer Firmino a ‘lifetime’ contract to tie him down for his best years.

We fully support this. A six year deal, for example, would take him up until his 32nd birthday, so we’d enjoy the best years of his career.
