Nathaniel Clyne, Virgil van Dijk and Danny Ings have been included in Liverpool’s Champions League squad for the knockout stages, with teams allowed to pick a fresh 25 before the Last 16 ensues.

We play two ties with Porto, where we’re favourites to beat the Portuguese and progress to the finals.

Coutinho, Daniel Sturridge, Marko Grujic and Jon Flanagan have all been removed, as they departed Anfield either permanently or on loan this January just gone.

One of the key reasons for getting the van Dijk deal done in January was because he wasn’t cup-tied in European competition – with Southampton not in any.

It’s also positive to see Clyne included, as that at least means the club expect to see him again this season, at some stage!

He’s yet to make an appearance, due to a severe back problem, and is now very unlikely to go to the World Cup in Russia. What’s more, the England international has two ever-improving youngsters in Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold gunning for his spot – having deputised well this term.

With Sturridge exited, it was obvious that Ings would come in. Behind Roberto Firmino, he’s battling with Dominic Solanke for the role of first-choice backup to the Brazilian.
