Liverpool go for Ozil’s Arsenal team-mate after missing out on German

Would you take Jack Wilshere on a free transfer, Liverpool fans?

Despite his injury record, we definitely would. The Englishman offers enough creativity and guile in midfield centrally that it’d be well worth the risk – especially if we didn’t have to pay a transfer fee.

According to various English media outlets, including the Star, Liverpool are keen on signing the 26-year-old – although we can’t officially offer him a contract until his current deal expires in the summer.

Arsenal recently announced Mesut Ozil, who was also linked to Jurgen Klopp, to a whopping extension on wages of around £350k/week, but Wilshere could be a far more realistic option.

The England international is on £90k/week, with Arsenal wanting to reduce his salary. Liverpool though would be ready to meet it, says the reports, although Wilshere loves his boyhood club and we still think acquiring him would be very tricky.

We’d be surprised if Wilshere didn’t pen new terms, but considering we’re losing Emre Can on a free transfer and missed the chance to bring in Leon Goretzka on a Bosman – the Arsenal man could be the next best thing.
