This is rather exciting…

Liverpool are being credited with an interest in Bayer Leverkusen’s Leon Bailey in the Metro.

The 20-year-old is enjoying a phenomenal breakout season in the Bundesliga, scoring 10 goals and registering five assists so far.

Bailey is a Jamaican international who predominantly starts on the left flank, although he has also played on the right previously.

He’s incredibly quick and skilful and has the capability to win games all on his own.

For this reason, the report says Leverkusen rate their prodigy at £100m+.

Liverpool are armed with cash following the Coutinho sale, having cooled our interest in Monaco’s Thomas Lemar.

While the Brazilian played deeper this season for Liverpool before his exit to Barcelona, to accommodate Sadio Mane, Mo Salah andRoberto Firmino up front, Bailey would not suit a role in the midfield three…

For this reason, we’re not sure he’ll be aggressively pursued. It’s a creative, central playmaker Liverpool need – in the Isco mould – not that the Real Madrid star will be attainable.
