Considering that football is one of the biggest sports in the world it is no surprise that there is thousands of clubs, each with unique badges. If you place football bets then you’ll probably be familiar with a wide variety of football crests. Since the invention of the sport, every club has had some sort of badge and have all gone through multiple redesigns into the badges we are familiar with today. Features such as animals and mottos have all been used on badges over the year, and have either been removed or replaced as changes to the badges have been made over the years.
Latin mottos may not be as common on badges as they once were, but certain clubs have stuck to tradition and found a way to incorporate these mottos onto their badges. The best example of this in the Premier League is Everton. Apart from the 2013/14 season, Everton have managed to include their ‘Nil Satis Nisi Optimum’ on their badge in every Premier League season. Some other clubs which have still kept their Latin mottos on their crests are Sheffield Wednesday, Gillingham and Blackburn Rovers.
Although not too common in the modern game, can you figure out which clubs have incorporated Latin mottos on their crests? Give this quiz a try and see how well you do.
