Garth Crooks has made a stupid claim about Andy Robertson

Garth Crooks: the gift that keeps on giving.

We don’t care what anyone says about his BBC Sport Teams of the Week- they’re immensely readable!

This time, he made us laugh again with a statement about our left-back Andy Robertson which is simply untrue.

Crooks suggested the Scot’s performance against Watford was all the more impressive because he’s played just a ‘handful’ of matches for club and country.

Robbo is 24-years-old, made his debut six years ago, has made 223 club appearances and been picked by his country on 20 occasions!

Still, the sentiment from Crooks is there…

“What a cross from Andy Robertson for Mohamed Salah. It was a world-class ball from a young Scot who has only played a handful of games for club and country” he said.

“The Champions League draw has pulled Liverpool versus Manchester City out as the tie of the round. It will be a game of huge importance for both clubs. I will be very interested to see how Robertson copes in that environment.”

We’re not sure Crooks needs to worry about Robbo in big matches, to be honest.

He was very good against City in January and he’s been one of our most consistent performers in 2018.

Our right fullback, whether that’ll be Trent Alexander-Arnold or Joe Gomez, will likely have a tougher time based on recent evidence.
