Hummels could become available this summer; LFC should pounce

This is an interesting story…

Kicker (via WAZ) are reporting that if Thomas Tuchel takes the Bayern Munich job from Jupp Heynckes in the summer, which he’s favourite to do, Mats Hummels may demand an exit.

The pair get on very badly – and Hummels left Borussia Dortmund to join Bayern in 2016, when Tuchel was in charge.

“Tuchel and Hummels were in Dortmund, but in a heartfelt disinclination,” the report says. “It might be the case that finding common ground in Munich is almost impossible.”

Bayern already have Niklas Sule, Jerome Boateng and Javi Martinez as centre-back options, so arguably could do without Hummels, especially if he has a problem with the likely incoming manager.

Of course, this is all speculation. Tuchel may not take over, and even if he does, the Germans could patch their differences and enjoy another Bundesliga triumph, with Bayern having a complete monopoly over the competition.

But if Hummels is available, Jurgen Klopp should consider! He managed the defender at Dortmund for consecutive title triumphs and they have a terrific relationship.

The thought of world-class Hummels alongside world-class Virgil van Dijk is a mouthwatering prospect!
