Feyenoord have announced that Dirk Kuyt will be taking over their U19s next season, via their official website.

The legendary Dutchman, who did so many great things for Liverpool between 2006 and 2012, retired at the end of last season after helping the club he supports win the Eredivisie title.

Now, he’s going into management, but like Steven Gerrard, has decided smartly to learn his trade out of the spotlight, before eventually moving up into a more senior position.

Gerrard, Kuyt’s captain at Liverpool throughout the Dutcman’s tenure, currently manages Liverpool’s U18s and U19s when we’re playing the UEFA Youth League.

Who knows – perhaps they’ll be in opposing dugouts in the competition next season!

The experience seems a mighty important one for Gerrard, especially as he’s close to Jurgen Klopp and can learn from the German.

One day, we hope Gerrard takes over from Klopp once his time has come to an end.

With Xabi Alonso also going into coaching, there’s a number of Gerrard’s ex-team-mates he could use to form an elite backroom staff!
