Bad news on Emre Can forces Klopp to play this team v City on Tuesday

The German’s contract expires at the end of the season and as of yet has not penned an extension with Liverpool or terms with anybody else.

Juventus have long been mooted as a potential destination for the 24-year-old, although Real Madrid and Manchester City have also been mentioned.

Can is currently out injured with a back injury, although according to BBC Sport, he could feature again before the summer.

With Adam Lallana also crocked, his absence is very untimely, especially considering Jordan Henderson is suspended for the Champions League tie with City on Tuesday…

We really hope Can does announce his future soon. It’s been a cloud hanging over the club for some time, and whatever he decides needs to be out in the open.

He hasn’t lacked effort when on the field, so his next step is his prerogative, as far as we’re concerned.

We’d rather keep Can, but he’s not irreplaceable – and we’re signing Naby Keita in a few months who’s an upgrade on him anyway.
