Three teenagers in LFC squad to face Everton today…

Jurgen Klopp will name Conor Masterson, Curtis Jones and Rafa Camacho in his squad today for the Merseyside Derby.

The former, an Irish central defender, was on the bench for the victory over Manchester City midweek, but the other two, both 17, are yet to feature in a first-team squad and have actually only just been promoted to the U23s.

The news has been confirmed by James Pearce of the Echo, who noted that the trio were left out of Neil Critchley’s Friday night U23 squad that played Arsenal.

Jones, who was Steven Gerrard’s U18 skipper before his promotion to the U23s, is a technically gifted midfielder with excellent dribbling skills. Right now, he’s arguably the most exciting youngster on our books apart from the well-known Ben Woodburn and Rhian Brewster.

(Trent Alexander-Arnold is young in age, but not in name or status.)

Camacho, interestingly, is a former Manchester City youth player, who we acquired in 2016. He can play on either wing, but although talented, is not really ready for first-team football.

We don’t reckon any of these youngsters will start, but the experience will be superb for them.

Perhaps if we’re winning comfortably they can get some minutes!
