Virgil van Dijk deleted a tweet from yesterday laughing at Harry Kane

Footballers on Twitter had a field day yesterday after it was announced that the Premier League had overturned a goal awarded to Christian Eriksen in favour of Harry Kane.

Despite the Tottenham forward’s cringeworthy protestations, including swearing on his daughter’s life, replays suggest the ball did not touch his shoulder.

Kane and Spurs appealed though – and won.

Mo Salah took immediate offence, and he was joined by a number of Liverpool players who expressed their shock and amusement on Twitter.

One of the was Virgil van Dijk, who posted this message, but quickly deleted it!

We’re not sure why he felt the need… There’s been plenty worse said from fellow pros, even England internationals!

For example, here’s what Jamie Vardy tweeted:

And Alan Shearer…

And Robbie Fowler!
