Key AS Roma star suffers injury before Liverpool Champions League clash

Roma may be without the man who scored their winner in the quarterfinals of the Champions League.

Kostas Manolas headed in late on against Barcelona last week to secure a 3-0 victory on the night and progression via the away goals rule.

They face Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday, but Calciomercato claim that the Greek defender left the 0-0 draw with Lazio at the weekend with an injury, and there’s been no word from the club as to its severity yet.

Manolas is Roma’s best defender and his absence would be massively beneficial to us.

Without Manolas, Roma would likely bring in Brazilian Juan to partner Federico Fazio.

Regardless of who plays though, Liverpool need to get a positive result at Anfield to bring over to the Italian capital a week later.

Roma’s victory over Barcelona shows how crucial it is that we keep a clean-sheet and give ourselves something to defend, too.

The key man will be Mo Salah, who’ll be facing his former club for the first time since his summer exit.

The Egyptian is currently on 40 goals for the campaign, but we hope he maintains his killer instinct against his old friends.
