BBC confirm LFC likely to pay £52.75m for midfielder

The actual price Liverpool will pay for Naby Keita is becoming more and more evident.

BBC Sport claim that with Rb Leipzig currently sixth in the table, five points off Hoffenheim in fourth, it’s looking unlikely that they’ll qualify for the Champions League.

What Liverpool agreed with the German club is that if they finished in the top four this season, we’d pay £59m, if they finished in the Europa League spots it would be £52.75m and if they ended up outside the top six it would be just £49m.

At the moment, Europa League spots look most likely.

The 23-year-old midfielder hasn’t been quite as good as he was last term, but is still Rb’s best player by some distance.

He provides energy, incisive passing and dribbling to the middle of the park and we cannot wait to have him at Jurgen Klopp’s disposal.

Keita suits Klopp’s style perfectly and we’re confident he’ll be a brilliant signing.

How we could do with his influence over the next few weeks though, with our current midfield options almost all injured!
