With Antoine Griezmann a likely arrival [Independent], it seems like Dembele would be pushed even further down the pecking order – with Coutinho, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez already dominating the forward positions.

A few weeks back, Jurgen Klopp joked that he was ‘interested’ in Dembele if the 20-year-old was on the market, but while he was only jesting, his admiration for the youngster is clear.

After all, Liverpool beelined for Dembele before he joined Borussia Dortmund in 2016 [Guardian].

But while all this is going on, we thought we’d remind you of what happened between Klopp and Dembele in summer 2017…

During his spell in Dortmund, Dembele actually rented a house from Klopp, with our manager living there for seven years during his managerial spell.

But when Dembele was trying to force a move to Barca, he fled the mansion and left it in a foul state following a house party – which according to the Express – infuriated Klopp – a man of manners and principles.

Klopp tried to contact the France international but couldn’t get a response.

Liverpool’s manager is a firm believer that talent only benefits the team if it’s combined with character and personality.

We’re wondering, will last summer’s disrespectful incident put Klopp off Dembele? Or should we just be pleased he has a direct line to the prodigal attacker…?

Let’s wait and see!
