Atletico ready Oblak replacement as LFC happy to pay giant release-clause – Report

The transfer rumour mill is churning away, good and proper…

It’s not even June yet, but we pretty much know Liverpool’s primary targets and in what positions – although the Fabinho deal suggests Jurgen Klopp and Michael Edwards could well spring a surprise at any point.

Naby Keita and the Brazilian have already been secured, but Liverpool want Nabil Fekir [Mirror] and a new keeper – with Alisson and Oblak the two primary targets [Echo].

And according to reports in Spain emanating from the admittedly unreliable El Gol Digital, Atletico Madrid are already lining up Athletic Bilbao no.1 Kepa, as they believe both Liverpool and Arsenal will try and trigger Oblak’s release-clause.

The Slovenian can be signed for €100m and hasn’t yet signed a contract extension that cancels this clause.

Oblak is rated as one of the best on the planet and rightly so, following another exceptional campaign in Spain and Europe.

He’d undeniably fix our problem position between the sticks, and although the fee is enormous, it’s worth it.

When Juventus broke the world-record for Gianluigi Buffon in 2001, many thought they were crazy for spending such a sum – but 17 years and multiple titles later – it’s regarded one of the best bits of business in the club’s history!
