Liverpool look to have been given fresh hope of sealing the transfer of Lyon star Nabil Fekir this summer after a surprise quote from the player’s agent.

As noted by the Liverpool Echo, our move for Fekir in a £53million deal recently broke down, but his agent Jean-Pierre Bernes has suggested the deal could still be on.

Fekir is, of course, currently with France at the World Cup, so we may have to wait a bit, but this sounds genuinely encouraging from the 24-year-old’s representative.

Asked on French TV why Fekir didn’t sign, he said: “He didn’t sign because um… it is not over! This is not the end of the story.”

It’s well noted that LFC could do with more depth in attack, despite the first choice trio of Mo Salah, Bobby Firmino and Sadio Mane being as good as anything in Europe.

With Salah going off in the Champions League final and replaced by Adam Lallana, it’s pretty clear we could do with more similar-style players capable of filling in in that area, which, for all Lallana’s qualities, he’s really not.
