Di Canio gives Alisson a warning about Liverpool…

Former star of Italian and English football, Paulo Di Canio, has discussed Alisson’s world-record move to Liverpool.

Last week, we secured the Brazilian as our new goalkeeper for the 2018/19 campaign, making him the most expensive stopper of all time in the process.

He’ll soon join up with his new team-mates and will hopefully be able to make a friendly appearance before the Premier League kicks off on August 12.

Di Canio has praised Alisson, but warned him about our style of play!

“The Premier League is different to Serie A, Alisson will need to adapt,” he said.

“I’m very curious to see him in the Premier League because a lot of great goalkeepers have failed in England.

“Alisson was great in his first season in Rome, and now he still needs to show his qualities.

“He’s got the skills and the personality to become a world-class goalkeeper, and he is also young and in good shape.

“He can achieve great results at Liverpool but he needs to be careful because Liverpool used to concede a lot.

“Liverpool won games with weird results like 5-3, 5-2. It’s not easy to find a balance.”

Not especially unfair comments, all in all!

We have every confidence Alisson is going to shore up a position for us that has been a weakness for about seven years, during Pepe Reina’s decline and the stints of Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius.

And if he isn’t up to the job, nobody can say we haven’t tried to fix the issue after spending £66m!
