Tony Bellew petrified of Liverpool: ‘It’s killing me inside…’

Everton fan Tony Bellew thinks Liverpool are going to compete for the Premier League title this season!

The Toffee has always vocally slated the Reds and backed his own team, but it’s got to a point now following Everton’s hilariously drab pre-season that the boxer doesn’t even believe his own lies!

Bellew, on the back of consecutive victories over David Haye and in line to fight lineal cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk, has lauded Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool’s transfers.

“We’ve just got to hope Barcelona come in for [Mohamed] Salah, mate. I’m just praying every day. [I want] just one of them to come in and take him,” he told talkSPORT.

“They’re going to challenge [for the Premier League title].”

“I can’t lie, they play frightening football, they really do and he [Jurgen Klopp] is a fantastic manager.

“He’s got some fantastic players at his disposal and, like I said before, his greatest asset is he signs players who fit perfectly into his system and they want to play for him.

“It’s all coming at the right time for them which is haunting me, it really is. It’s killing me inside.”

We can imagine plenty of Everton fans feel exactly the same right now – whether they care to admit or not.

Our neighbours won their first pre-season game 22-0, but have bagged just twice more in four matches and not won another match – including a demoralising 3-0 defeat to Blackburn.

At the moment, it looks like Everton will be closer to the relegation zone than they will to Liverpool.
