James Pearce: Liverpool ace to miss Napoli friendly as he prepares to seal transfer away

It looks like Danny Ings’ time at Liverpool is coming to an end – and we should actually get a pretty decent fee for him.

That’s according to James Pearce in the Liverpool Echo, who reports the former Burnley man is set to miss the friendly against Napoli as he prepares to leave for around £20million.

Sad as it is that this move couldn’t work out better for Ings, who has been extremely unlucky with injuries, it’s little surprise that he no longer stands much of a chance at Anfield.

Looking at Jurgen Klopp’s options up front for the season ahead, and many better strikers wouldn’t stand much of a chance of getting a lot of playing time – Daniel Sturridge being an obvious example.

Good luck to Ingsy with whatever he does next, and let’s hope that £20m can go towards a late Liverpool transfer spending spree!

In all seriousness, clearing out the deadwood and getting what we can will only help us move forward if there are to be any late twists in this transfer window, with the club showing it can pull major deals out of the bag as exciting additions like Fabinho and Alisson were completed relatively quickly.

Let’s see how it goes…
