Aston Villa eye deal for Liverpool forward after loan setback

Aston Villa are set to turn their focus towards Liverpool’s Sheyi Ojo as they look to bolster their attacking ranks before the end of the month.

The Championship promotion hopefuls will be looking to go one better in 2018/2019 after falling to defeat against Fulham in last season’s playoff final.

Ojo himself impressed whilst on loan at Craven Cottage, but saw his campaign cut short by injury and subsequently missed the Wembley showdown with Villa.

The Englishman returned to Melwood earlier this summer and featured regularly in pre-season whilst the club evaluated his options ahead of the new season.

Villa are now keen on signing Ojo after failing in their effort to sign Everton’s Yannick Bolasie, according to the Birmingham Mail.

Jurgen Klopp made no secret of Liverpool’s plans to send Ojo back out on loan during pre-season, although various reports also suggested the club would be willing to sell him permanently.

To do so would be an unnecessarily hasty decision having arguably not yet seen near to Ojo’s best or given him the time others in his position at the club have been.

A blend of raw flair and explosive directness persists to fuel optimism he possesses the quality to enjoy a future in the Premier League, whether it be at Liverpool or elsewhere.

Villa would be an ideal landing spot for the 21-year-old to showcase his talent in a team expected to be competing at the top of the Championship table this season.
