Liverpool 2/1 favourites for 4-time Ligue 1 champion

The Daily Star has claimed Liverpool are ‘likely’ to sign Adrien Rabiot and quoted Coral’s 2/1 odds that make us favourites in an article today.

The Frenchman has rejected multiple contract offers from PSG and is likely going to be available either in January for a reduced fee or at the end of the season on a Bosman, as his current deal expires in eight months’ time. Barcelona are next in line with odds of 4/1.

Rabiot is a technically sublime midfielder, who racks up very good passing stats and dictates tempo for PSG. It’s no surprise they want to keep the 23-year-old, who’s already been part of four Ligue 1 winning squads, but missed out on France’s World Cup squad due to a dispute with Didier Deschamps.

Of our current crop of midfielders, we’d compare Rabiot to Adam Lallana stylistically, although the Englishman is more attacking and offers nothing aerial, unlike the 6ft.2′ Frenchman.

Rabiot has said good things about Liverpool in the past and we’d be very excited if we followed up this initial interest with a January bid.
