Agent Van Dijk speaks up Liverpool signing superb Dutch teammate🇳🇱

Virgil van Dijk spoke about his prodigal international defensive partner Matthijs de Ligt last night during a press-conference before Netherlands’ two fixtures.

Our central defender captains his country and will do so in mouthwatering games against France and Germany in the coming days.

Teenage defender de Ligt has impressed everybody who’s seen him at any level, whether that be for Ajax or Holland, including Liverpool’s no.4.

Van Dijk praised the youngster enormously and suggested our scouts will already be aware of his brilliance.

“He is already very far, especially at that age,” he told De Telegraaf. “A good defender, good boy, calm, knows what he wants and hopefully he makes the right choice in his next step.

“He will be on the list, because they have enough scouts at the club.”

Asked if he’d be the best scout because he plays next to de Ligt, van Dijk said: “No, but if they need my opinion at Liverpool, I’ll give it.”

In the summer just gone, we’d have been all up for de Ligt, but the truth is now that we don’t really need him.

21-year-old Joe Gomez has developed at such a rate that we’d suggest he’s on par with de Ligt or above him already. With Dejan Lovren in reserve, not to mention Joel Matip, central defence is perhaps the area on the field we’re best covered.

The partnership between Gomez and van Dijk has been exemplary this term and we see no reason whatsoever to break that up.
