We’d have thought better from one of the biggest sports companies on the planet, in all honesty – but luckily – Liverpool fans put ESPN in their place!
Yesterday, the media outlet tried to compare Cardiff’s Sol Bamba to Virgil van Dijk and chose a number of stats that shows the Ivorian is ‘better’ than Liverpool’s Dutchman…
Cardiff are maybe the worst side in the top flight, so obviously have far more defending to do than Liverpool – but ESPN failed to recognise this when putting the two centre-backs head to head.

EOTK contributor @BabuYagu came back with a superb reply that highlighted the defensive stats that are actually important – making ESPN look quite silly in the process…

We’d also point out that Cardiff have conceded 25 goals, while Liverpool have let in just five, without losing a game in the top flight this term.
But don’t let that get in the way of the fact Bamba has more hoofed clearances, hey ESPN?!
