‘Klopp take notes’ ‘Could easily slot 15 goals’: Some LFC fans think Jurgen has new tactical option after last night

Posted by

Many fans bemoan the fact that Liverpool have no ‘Plan B’ to come off the bench and help us play more directly when we’re in need of a goal late on – but in reality we have a world-class £75m option who just plays a little further back!

Virgil van Dijk was made to play striker for Netherlands last night and scored a wonderful volley in the 90th minute to help his country top their Nations League group and progress to the semi-finals.

The technique on the effort was sublime, but the fact is, van Dijk has always had this ability. At Celtic he reached double figures during one season, has a tremendous long shot and unrivalled aerial ability.

The only surprise is that he hasn’t scored more for Liverpool, with his only goal so far coming on debut v Everton.

In reality, we hope we DON’T see van Dijk utilised as a striker, as it means we’ll be losing games late on!

But when the situation arises, it’s not a bad option. In fact, we can imagine Mo Salah running onto van Dijk’s flick ons very easily.

And so can plenty of fans, who’ve already begun to compare van Dijk’s forward skills to that of Romelu Lukaku or Alvaro Morata.
