Spanish journalist makes huge £160m Liverpool transfer claim RE next summer

There’s always a lot of outrageous claims made from various Spanish journalists in regards to Liverpool – and we’ve learned to take most of the suggestions, especially when it comes to transfers – with a pinch of salt.

So today’s story from Eduardo Inda, made in Ok Diario, should be treated exactly the same…

The reporter claims we approached Real Madrid and made a £160m offer for Marco Asensio this summer just gone, and will go back in for the Spaniard in 2019!

“This year, an offer of £160million came from Liverpool for Real Madrid for Asensio,” he said. “The club said no because Cristiano [Ronaldo] left, but Klopp is in love with the player and will go for the player next summer.”

Is Asensio brilliant? Yes. Would and should Klopp take him at Anfield? Undeniably. But did we make a £160m offer for his services?! Unlikely!

Asensio actually penned a new deal last year and is now tied to Real Madrid until 2023. As a result, we think he’s basically unattainable, regardless of who the manager is.

Isco on the other hand might be slightly more realistic… The world-class playmaker has showed signs of discontent in Madrid – under Zinedine Zidane last season and Santiago Solari this – left out of the midweek Champions League squad that beat AS Roma.

Marca report that he refused to shake Solari’s hand at the weekend and is very unhappy at the Bernabeu.

Liverpool need a player who can link our midfield and attack and Isco would be one of the very best potential options out there.
