(Video) Ryan Kent’s superb assist win Gerrard & Rangers the Derby

Ryan Kent played a massive role in Steven Gerrard’s first ever Old Firm victory today, as Rangers defeated Celtic 1-0 at Ibrox.

The young winger, who is on loan from Liverpool for the season, made a fool of Celtic’s right-back before perfectly picking out goalscorer Ryan Jack – who shot through the legs of captain Scott Brown.

Rangers are now level on points with Celtic, but Brendan Rodgers’ side have a game in hand.

Even so, it’s undeniable that Gerrard’s men are in a genuine title race, which if they win, will deny Celtic from finishing first for the 10th consecutive season.

Kent is definitely the best performing player with Liverpool connections at Rangers this term.

Ovie Ejaria was sent home from his loan spell early, despite a promising start, and Jon Flanagan can rarely get into the side.

We’re not sure Kent has a genuine future at Anfield, but we hope he reaches his potential elsewhere – as he’s definitely got something.
