Liverpool fixture date confirmed after FA Cup result

Liverpool finally know for certain what date they will face West Ham in their return Premier League fixture at the London Stadium.

Reds had been left uncertain as to whether they were planning for a lunchtime kickoff on Sunday February 3 or a Monday night trip to the capital on February 4.

This served as yet another case of ignorance to supporters in regards to travel expenses, work arrangements and the inconvenient timing of lengthy journeys.

West Ham’s shock FA Cup defeat to Wimbledon on Saturday means Liverpool’s game will officially take place at 8pm on the Monday night.

Whilst this is likely, and thankfully, in keeping to Reds’ initial plans, it does leave travelling fans facing a tiring trip back to Merseyside.

Liverpool resume their Premier League title charge at home to Leicester City on Wednesday night fresh off the back of an extended 10-day break.

With the Reds not involved in the FA Cup fourth round following their defeat to Wolves, Jurgen Klopp took his side to Dubai for a warm-weather training camp.

This allowed the likes of Dejan Lovren, Ki-Jana Hoever and Georginio Wijnaldum the opportunity to shake off minor knocks, as well as staging a step up in Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s recovery from knee ligament damage.
