Klopp describes Oxlade-Chamberlain’s current condition

Jurgen Klopp admits Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is looking in great shape following his recent return to full training with Liverpool.

The midfielder is edging ever closer to his comeback having been sidelined with knee ligament damage since last April’s Champions League semi-final first leg against Roma.

Liverpool’s recent warm weather training camp in Marbella saw the Englishman take part in his first full session in view of playing a part before the end of the season.

Though Klopp remains keen on easing him back in, the German has been unable to ignore his bright impression at Melwood.

Discussing his midfield options, he told Liverpoolfc.com: “We don’t have to talk about Ox at the moment because he needs a bit of time. He looks so good in training but we need to make him resistant for all the things that are coming up.”

Klopp confirmed on Friday that Oxlade-Chamberlain remains unavailable ahead of Sunday’s clash with Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, he said: “Rhian Brewster is still only in little parts [of training], Ox in bigger parts but not ready to play. The rest have trained and will train with us, but there is still a little bit of time.”

To have him back in any capacity would be a welcomed boost as the Reds strive to see their Premier League title challenge through to the end.

It’s important, however, to accept the likelihood of the former Arsenal man being off the pace and slow to re-adjust upon his eventual return to the pitch.

Whilst fans have every right to be excited by a player of his talent, to burden him which high expectations would be unfair.
