Reds fans will love academy director’s comments on what it’s really like to work with Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool’s Academy director, Alex Inglethorpe, has explained what Jurgen Klopp is really like behind the scenes – and Reds fan will like what they hear.

Inglethorpe arrived at Anfield as a coach at the Academy during Brendan Rodgers’ time at the club, and was quickly promoted to being the head of Liverpool’s youth system.

He is someone valued highly by Klopp and everyone at the club, and is someone who knows the German very well.

Speaking to The Coaches Voice, Inglethorpe revealed: “When Jurgen Klopp arrived at the club, I saw straight away that he’s exactly the same off the screen as he is on it. There’s not a face for the camera and then a face for other people – he’s exactly the same, which I love.

“From moment one he’s had the same personality, same laugh, same enthusiasm. It’s that authenticity that I think helps him to have such a big impact on players.

“Ultimately, he’s very good at understanding people: what makes them tick and their demands. He’s a very good communicator, too.”

After some criticism surfaced from the Reds dropping points in the Merseyside derby over the weekend, it’s a reminder of just the kind of manager Liverpool have.

Each and every training session with the boss is tough and specifically designed to challenge the players, but it must be so enjoyable to work with him.

It’s clear that Inglethorpe and the players value him highly – and even after frustrating results, it has to be remembered what a good job he has done at the club so far.
