Last night, it emerged that Virgil van Dijk would be officially named the PFA Player of the Year today.
This is good news – and we’re glad the Dutchman pipped Raheem Sterling to the gong following a sublime individual campaign.
But according to the Times, the PFA Team of the Year has also been linked – and outrageously features Paul Pogba – arguably the least deserving nominee we’ve ever seen.
Alisson, who has racked up 18 clean-sheets and is set for the Golden Glove in his first season, has also somehow missed out to Manchester City’s Ederson – while Mo Salah doesn’t make the cut either.
This is despite leading the Premier League for goals scored on 19, alongside Sergio Aguero.
Here’s the team in full: Ederson; Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andy Robertson, Virgil van Dijk, Aymeric Laporte; Fernandinho, Bernardo Silva, Paul Pogba; Sadio Mane, Raheem Sterling, Sergio Aguero
We’re glad our fullbacks have warranted a selection, as they’re by far the best duo in the country – especially when you consider their hatful of assists.
Following United’s embarrassing performance at Old Trafford last night, we can only hope Burnley offer a little more resistance at the weekend – although in truth – we’re running out of optimism and are expecting them to win all three.
Still – we have to do our job and make sure any slip up is immediately pounced upon!
