Spurs use CL Final appearance to rock transfer market; £114m worth of offers already in pipeline

Remember last season when Liverpool went transfer crazy after the Champions League Final?

We secured Fabinho just days afterwards; welcomed Naby Keita to the club; made Alisson the most expensive keeper in the world temporarily and brought in Xherdan Shaqiri…

Well, it seems Saturday’s opponents Spurs are looking to similarly use the clout of reaching a European Cup Final to buy exciting targets.

BBC Sport confirm a £53m bid has been made for Real Betis midfielder Giovani Lo Celso, who scored 16 goals in total this season.

What’s more, L’Equipe suggest Spurs have already sounded out Lyon with a £61m offer for the exceptional youngster Tanguy Ndombele.

In many ways, the moves mirror us last summer – when we splashed the cash on two midfielders of our own to finalise Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

With Tottenham in a new stadium, and Mauricio Pochettino likely to stay, they’ll definitely be competitors next term – although Manchester City will be the side to beat.

Still, the 2019/20 campaign is of little interest to us right now!

If we get the job done on Saturday, we’ll be partying right up until it begins.
