Liverpool are lining up a move for Real Madrid wonderkid Martin Ødegaard according to Spanish outlet Sport, though the Norwegian has a release clause of £71.2 million.

Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich are just some of the big-name clubs that are also in for the creative midfielder, states the report.

Ødegaard is currently on loan at Real Sociedad and won the La Liga Player of the Month award for September. He remains incredibly highly-rated having moved to the Bernabeu at the age of 16 from his hometown club Strømsgodset back in 2015.

Before moving to Spain, he had a tour around Melwood with his father, so the interest from the Reds is definitely there.

The question would be whether they would want to spend that much on a player with potential, and also whether he would want to leave Real Madrid before being given a proper chance at breaking into their first team under Zinedine Zidane.

The one thing that might swing any race for his signature in Jurgen Klopp’s favour is that Ødegaard was a Reds supporter as a child.
