Just another day in the LFC Offices…

To say that today has been filled with ups and downs would be an understatement, but that’s just the Liverpool way I guess.

When I woke up this morning, the headlines were all about Chelsea having yet another bid for Torres rejected, and just like many Liverpool fans I wasn’t surprised that Chelsea were back in for him, and happy to see that the club had issued a statement saying Torres was not for sale.
Then of course came more bad news with sources claiming that Torres actually wants to leave, and I got a little bit concerned, as many sources were also claiming that he is happy at Liverpool, including the man himself just 20 days ago.

Then luckily some good news, Ajax and Liverpool came to a deal for Suarez(Finally), and Kenny gets his big signing, and hopefully Torres gets that quality striker to play with, and keep him happy. LFC.TV went into overload and rightly so, Suarez is a big name player, and has a growing reputation, and possibly one of very few men who not only have the guts to take Kenny’s old number, but someone who has the potential to live up to it’s significance.

But then of course, another big Torres bullet hits, with many sources claiming that Torres is in fact pushing for the deal to go through, and Chelsea getting ready to come back with another bid, and with the supposed £50 million buy out clause, is it time to panic? Maybe so.  If Torres is sold now, Liverpool need to act fast to get a replacement, but who is there, and of course we’d like to have some of the Torres money to go into other area’s of the squad too? Even with our new owner’s we can’t afford the likes of Aguero or Pato. We lost out on Adebayor, and I seriously doubt Mourinho will sell Benzema to Liverpool. Lopez? Huntelaar? Both very good strikers, but Torres quality? Definitely not, as well as needing time to settle, so unless Liverpool manage to get Anelka plus cash for Torres, we’d quite bad off, unless we all look torwards young David N’Gog to partner Suarez upfront. So Chelsea’s timing definitely isn’t great for Liverpool, and will should mean we’ll keep hold of Torres until the summer.

However keeping Torres against his will, will go one of three ways, either he’ll sulk and be off form, and his value plumet. He’ll play like we know he can play and attarct a bigger transfer fee, or he decides to stay, which seems unlikely.

If you’re Kenny Dalglish, you have two options. Do you keep Torres and risk our season, or sell him and hope you can find a replacement in 3 days?

Ajax and Liverpool F.C. agree on Suarez fee

The club has officially confirmed that Liverpool will be signing Luis Suarez as a fee for £22.8m.

Suarez has to agree on personal terms and pass the medical.

Welcome to Anfield Luis, now which number shall he get? Will Kenny give him his old number 7?

Fernando Torres…

As I’m sure we all know by, Liverpool have publicly rejected a bid from Premier League rivals Chelsea for striker Fernando Torres ahead of the January transfer window closing on Monday evening. Chelsea are in need of a decent forward to help their faltering title defence after slipping from first to fourth in the league, ten points behind leaders Manchester United.
Liverpool’s American owner John Henry is not prepared to let one of his top players leave, with the team showing delicate signs of a recovery since Kenny Dalglish returned to the manager’s job at the start of the month. Consecutive victories and clean sheets have lifted Liverpool away from the relegation zone up to seventh, nine points behind Chelsea in the final Champions League qualification spot.
The bid for Torres was put at around £35 million, although Torres has only found the net nine times for Liverpool this season, three of those goals have come since Kenny Dalglish replaced Roy Hodgson as manager.
Why didn’t Chelsea bid for Torres at the start of the transfer window when Hodgson was still in charge? Why wait until the last weekend?
I think Chelsea may just be starting to panic a little, maybe they feel they’re not strong enough to qualify for next season’s Champions League! I believe Torres will leave if Liverpool fail to qualify for the Champions League, which looks very likely at this point of the season, and where will he go? Chelsea or Manchester City probably, as they’re the only clubs who could afford the £45-50 million pricetag.
If and when Torres goes, I imagine that Pepe Reina will leave too, and my guess on that one is to Manchester United, seeing as Van der Sar is set to retire in May! Let’s hope Liverpool pull off a miracle and somehow manage to finish in the top four this season, otherwise next season could be even harder to bear than this one!
