Feeling inspired after the Olympics? Then why don’t you raise some gold, silver and bronze for the 23 Foundation!

If a summer of sport has left you feeling inspired and motivated to achieve something big, then running the Liverpool Marathon for 23 Foundation will give you the perfect opportunity to do so, whilst raising funds for the charity which gives local kids in Merseyside a chance to follow their sporting dreams. The 23 Foundation are offering interested runners discounted places, asking for a £30 registration fee instead of £50, along with encouraging participants to reach a minimum sponsorship target of £300.

Hayley Houston, 23 Foundation Intern said: “We are hoping to get as many people as possible to take part in this brilliant event and the funds raised will make a huge difference to local kids in Merseyside as it gives them the encouragement and opportunity to reach for their dreams and aspirations.”

The charity has a number of guaranteed spaces remaining in the marathon and these will be allocated to runners who sign up on a first come first served basis.

When signing up for the marathon, 23 Foundation will also provide a fundraising pack complete with tips and ideas on how to raise funds, sponsorship forms and a 23 Foundation running vest to wear on the day.

Set up in 2009 by Liverpool FC’s Jamie Carragher, 23 Foundation is a Merseyside orientated charity dedicated to supporting young people by encouraging them to achieve their dreams by following their sporting interests.

From September 2010 to January 2011 £70, 000 has been distributed in charitable grants to support local community projects in Merseyside, including youth clubs and sports education. More recently £23, 000 was invested this summer in Merseyside communities as part of the 23 Foundation’s continuing work. Some of these grants have supported the likes of Brunswick Youth Club in Bootle and Hugh McAuley’sFootball Academy, which has held training sessions for youths across Merseyside.
