Liverpool have four players named in England squad – but Daniel Sturridge omitted

Liverpool have had four players called up to Roy Hodgson’s England squad to face Slovenia and Scotland in the forthcoming international break – but Daniel Sturridge has been left out.

England tickets are available through online ticket bookings, but you may want to hold off this international break given the lack of quality of the opposition and of course, Sturridge’s absence is a big downer as well.

Jordan Henderson, Adam Lallana, Raheem Sterling and Rickie Lambert are the Reds players selected, but Sturridge has been given more time to recover from his calf injury.

Sturridge suffered a thigh strain on international duty in September, but upon stepping up his Liverpool comeback last month, he pulled his calf muscle, and the rest will do him good.

Given the criticism Hodgson faced for his handling of Sturridge’s fitness in September, his omission from this squad is a welcome one – particularly from a Reds point of view.

We’re looking forward to seeing him back in action as soon as he is ready – and let’s hope the rest of the Liverpool international call-ups can avoid injury!
