Liverpool fitness boost: Daniel Sturridge set to return…

Liverpool and England striker Daniel Sturridge has been out of action since the start of September with a calf injury.

He was not fit to face Chelsea this afternoon, but, speaking ahead of the match, he promised fans that he will be available to play in Liverpool’s next fixture, which is against Crystal Palace on November 23.

“Yeah I’ll be ready for that one,” he told BT Sport. “God willing, I’ll be ready.”

Reports in yesterday’s Liverpool Echo revealed that Sturridge was using quinoa and bee pollen to aid his recovery.

The health-boosting ingredients are an important part of his regime to help repair muscle damage which he hopes will see him back in action in time for Crystal Palace.

Sturridge revealed to that quinoa – the seed alternative to rice and pasta – is part of his daily diet, while he sprinkles bee pollen into banana smoothies for an extra energy boost.

“It’s important that I eat the right things to give my muscles ammunition and I’m always ready to try something new if I think it will do me good,” he said.

The 25-year-old has been signed as former England captain David Beckham’s replacement Active Kids ambassador for Sainsbury’s.

And the company have released an advertisement, with Sturridge performing the wriggly-arms dance to Montell Jordan’s This Is How We Do It. The Reds will be hoping for similar moves upon his return to the Anfield pitch.
