Croatian starlet encouraged to quit Italian football…

Croatia skipper Darijo Srna believes his international teammate Mateo Kovacic needs to leave Inter Milan if he wants to truly fulfil his potential, Goal reports.

Liverpool were heavily linked to the 20-year-old midfielder back in the summer, but the Italian giants flatly refused to entertain any offers at the time.

Shakhtar Donetsk stalwart Srna though thinks it’s already time for Kovacic to move to a bigger club, with Inter struggling in 9th position in Serie A this term, having also finished poorly in mid-table last season.

“Kovacic is one of the best young players in Italy; he is the one that makes the difference”, Srna was quoted as saying by Croatian broadcaster 24 Sata.

“But if he wants to prosper, he must change his path.

“Inter are far from their best days and he would improve quicker if he were at a better club”, the Shakhtar Donetsk star added.

Kovacic is immensely talented, and combines a superb creative flair with technical ability and dynamism in the centre.

Liverpool already have the likes of Joe Allen, Jordan Henderson, Emre Can and ever Coutinho who can play a box-to-box midfield role – meaning the position will probably not be a priority in January.
